This lecture will explore the principles of antibiotic resistance, why systemic antibiotics are generally ineffective for treating dental disease, and when their use is actually indicated – taking into consideration the current ADA, AAHA, and AVDC guidelines. The session will also introduce practical applications for hyaluronic acid as a local, targeted adjunct that supports periodontal treatment without contributing to resistance.
